CIP – Confederation of Portuguese Business, along with seven other national business federations, sent a letter to President Ursula von der Leyen and Executive Vice-President Vestager, addressing some concerns regarding the future review of European competition policy and IPCEI – Important Projects of Common European Interest.

In this letter, the business federations defend the need to maintain a strong fact-based competition policy, and that its review is based on sound economic analyses, avoiding political interference. In order to avoid market distortions and the weakening of the Single Market, they also defend the need to restore state-aid regulation, as soon as the economic recovery allows, and to ensure that the scope of the IPCEI is not broadened to cover costs related to mass production or merely to ensure European production.
