The President of CIP, António Saraiva, met with the Madam Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Portugal, Julia Monar, with the following agenda items: the business environment in Portugal, CIP’s relationship with German stakeholders and economic opportunities in the relationship between both countries.

According to INE, Germany was the 3rd client of Portuguese exports of goods in 2021, with a share of 11.0% of the total, and occupied the 2nd position in imports (12.4%). Germany is one of Portugal’s leading partners, and the German market continues to present business opportunities in different areas, both in the more traditional ones (namely clothing with quality and design, textiles, footwear, home, agri-food, and wine) and in cutting edge industrial sectors (capital goods, automotive components, ICT, health, environment, among others).

Furthermore, CIP has maintained an excellent relationship with CCILA – Portuguese-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry and, last May 2022, at the Hannover Messe’22, the President of CIP, António Saraiva, spoke at the welcome ceremony in the Portugal pavilion, together with the Portuguese Prime Minister, António Costa, the German Chancellor, Olaf Scholz, the President of the BDI (Confederation of German Industry), Siegfried Russwurm, and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of AICEP, Luis Castro Henriques.
