BusinessEurope legal affairs director, Pedro Oliveira, participated in a meeting with CIP, open to all interested members, to discuss the state of play in respect of the Sustainable corporate governance and due diligence files.

In this session, the European Commission intentions regarding the proposal were outlined. Among the main concerns for companies is the possibility that firms may be held accountable for the supply chain where they operate, as well as the emergence of abusive interferences in corporate governance.

In the meeting, it was also discussed the joint actions to be taken, at the European and national level, to ensure that the legislative proposals due in autumn are proportional, adapted to the reality of companies (especially for SMEs), and compatible with the principle of “free enterprise”.
