Following the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the BusinessEurope Executive Committee meeting discussed the direct consequences that are already being felt, namely in terms of energy and raw materials prices, as well as possible action measures to mitigate the effects on the functioning of European companies.
Carla Sequeira, Secretary-General of CIP, recalled that energy interconnections, although they are a medium-term response, are fundamental in reducing dependence on Russia and regretted that there had not been carried forward, despite constant calls in recent years.
Despite the concern regarding the impacts on business activity, the sanctions imposed by the EU on Russia were vigorously defended, and the need for unity in the response and the construction of common solutions.
