With the theme “The Iberian Peninsula as a Business Platform: Europe, Ibero-America and Africa,” a Conference organised by the Portuguese Industrial Association was held in Cascais, at the Casa das Histórias Paula Rego, bringing together participants in the meetings of the Governing Board of the Inter-American Commission of Chambers of Commerce (AICO) and the Governing Board of the Inter-American Commission for Commercial Arbitration (CIAC).

In the opening session with an institutional focus, Armindo Monteiro, President of the Confederation of Portuguese Business, underlined: “In the current geopolitical context, Portugal and Spain should develop a decisive role in the relationship between Europe, Latin America, and Africa, leading the EU’s cooperation efforts with these regions. The regions of Ibero-America and Africa are geographies with which Portugal has historical, cultural, and affective ties, which today translate into fruitful cooperation at various levels, namely at the business level. There are also huge expectations because the economic relationship between Portugal and Ibero-America and Africa has a high margin for progression, given the investment potential and the common will to deepen bilateral cooperation, trade, and business partnerships”.
