CIP is the most representative Business Confederation in Portugal, a strong, homogenous and comprehensive associative employer structure, able to effectively defend and represent the interests of Portuguese companies in Portugal and abroad.
CIP represents about 114 thousand companies of all sizes and sectors, through both sectorial and regional associations, as well as all Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Portugal.
It’s also an agent of change, contributing to the progress of market economy and private initiative, advocating that social dialogue is a means of promoting social and economic cohesion.
CIP is a direct member of BUSINESSEUROPE, the leading advocate for growth and competitiveness at European level, where it has a delegation at their Headquarters in Brussels, at the heart of EU institutions, and where is represented in the seven main policy committees, participating actively and regularly in the various working groups, together with other 33 national business confederations.
CIP is the main voice of Portuguese Business in Brussels, advocating near the main instances and European political, economic and social decision-makers, and informs regularly its associated members about the most relevant European issues for the Portuguese economy.
In order improve competitiveness, growth, investment and consequently foster the employment, CIP and BUSINESEUROPE work together for a competitive Europe and emphasise the importance of the following domains in near future for their associated members: Implementation of the new European Investment Plan; Ambitious Structural Reforms, namely in the labour market; Creation of a roadmap for industrial competitiveness; Seize the opportunities of the digital world and develop the single market; Conclude ambitious trade agreements; Negotiate and conclude an ambitious agreement about climate and an energy-climate package EU2030, adaptable to this international agreement.
